Craig George is excited for the opportunity to be the first director of Camp Carderock! His passion for teaching and summer camp was developed at a young age. Craig attended West Virginia University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education Teacher Education, which certifies him to teach PreK-12th grade. Prior to graduating WVU, Craig was born and raised in New Jersey where he attended Jeff Lake Day Camp every summer for 13 years. Once old enough, Craig became a counselor for 5 years and was the Director Of Sports and Athletics for 1 summer before moving to the DMV area. His almost 20 years at JLC, has set him up to successfully be our first director at Camp Carderock.

Since graduating from WVU, Craig taught Physical Education for 3 years in DC Public Schools. After those 3 years he moved to Montgomery County Public Schools where he is currently the Physical Education Teacher at Wyngate Elementary School in Bethesda, MD. He has been teaching in MCPS for 6 years and is currently the patrol sponsor at Wyngate, where he supports and challenges his 5th grade students to be proper role models and community leaders. Along with teaching, he was the Head JV Baseball Coach at Bishop O’Connell High School in Falls Church, VA for 3 years, where he spent his summers working at Kyle Padgett Baseball Camp as Assistant Director.

He is beyond excited to bring his experience and passion for sports, teaching, and camp to the Carderock community this summer.
